Player Bio
Yordy is a Major League Baseball designated hitter and outfielder for the Houston Astros. He was born in Las Tunas, Cuba, on June 27, 1997. This left-handed batter spent two seasons with the Leadores de Las Tunas in the Cuban National Series (CNS) before his move to America. As a Cuban, his story is a lot similar to the other Cubans who defected to the States. This young man moved out of his native land and migrated to Haiti. He met a few other Cuban baseballers, who've become stars in their own right, and moved to Florida. Although he wanted to sign with the Astros, it was, in fact, the LA Dodgers who gave him his break. They signed him as an international free agent in 2016. However, Yordy was traded to the Astros in August that year. The man from Cuba debuted professionally in 2016 with the Dominican Summer League Astros, where he stayed for the rest of the season. He's also played for the Quad Cities River Bandits, Buies Creek Astros, Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League, Fresno Grizzlies of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, and Round Rock Express of the Pacific Coast League. The winner of the AL Rookie of the Year in 2019, this young man made his MLB debut for the Houston Astros on the 9th of June that year.ncG1vNJzZmivp6x7uMDFqKatZpOkunC8y5qwnqpfrryzsMCnZJqkppa%2FpsaMpqObZw%3D%3D
