Yaroslav Hunka Children: Does Yaroslav Hunka Have Children?

As of September 2023, there are no records of Yaroslav Hunka’s children, making it unknown to us whether or not the 98-year-old actress has biological or adopted children.

Yaroslav Hunka hit major headlines in September 2023 after being recognized as a hero by the speaker of Canada’s House of Commons, Anthony Rota.

Hunka who was sitting in the gallery got a standing ovation in Canada’s parliament after Anthony Rota said he was a “hero” during a visit by Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We have here in the chamber today a Ukrainian-Canadian veteran from the Second World War who fought for Ukrainian independence against the Russians and continues to support the troops today, even at his age of 98”

“He’s a Ukrainian hero, a Canadian hero, and we thank him for all his service. Thank you” Rota said on Friday, 22 September 2023, followed by a lengthy round of applause

and a wave by Zelenskyy.

Per reports, during World War Two, Yaroslav Hunka served in the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division, also known as the Galicia Division, a voluntary unit made up mostly of ethnic Ukrainians under Nazi command.

In an update of the events, the speaker of Canada’s House of Commons, Anthony Rota has issued an apology for honoring Yaroslav Hunka while responding to condemnation from several Jewish groups.

In a statement late Sunday, 24 September, Rota said; “I have subsequently become aware of more information which causes me to regret my decision to (honor Hunka).

“I wish to make clear that no one, including fellow parliamentarians and the Ukraine delegation, was aware of my intention or of my remarks before I delivered them”

“This initiative was entirely my own, the individual in question being from my riding and having been brought to my attention. I particularly want to extend my deepest apologies to Jewish communities in Canada and around the world,” he added.
