Grant Denyer has been named as the new host of the resurrected game show Deal or No Deal.

The series, once a ratings juggernaut, originally aired on Seven from 2003 until 2013 and was hosted by Andrew O’Keefe.

The announcement of its return by Ten today confirms weeks of speculation.

In a statement, a spokesman for the network revealed former Family Feud host Denyer – who most recently appeared on The Amazing Race – will be fronting the “thrilling gameplay that will have the entire family enthralled”.

It will air weekdays on Ten at 6pm in 2024.

Deal or No Deal, based on a Dutch format, first premiered in 2003 as an hour-long program on Sunday nights.

In 2004, it relaunched as a half-hour format and moved to weekdays at 5.30pm, where it attracted a huge audience for a number of years.

However, after a decade on air, the show’s ratings continued to decline before production was eventually halted in 2013.

In 2011, even then-host O’Keefe admitted that Deal was facing stiff competition and was “showing signs that it [needed] rejuvenation.”

The original show saw a contestant having to select a briefcase from a selection of 26, each of which contained a different amount of money, ranging from 5 cents to $200,000.

As they progressed, the contestant opened other briefcases, and eventually had to choose whether to keep going or strike a deal with the “Banker” and quit the game - effectively deciding: “Deal or No Deal?”.

Just last month, rumours about the show’s future began circulating after a casting call for potential contestants was released.

“Does lady luck always shine on you?” the notice read, according to TV Blackbox.
