His real-life daughter, Shannon Amos posted a tribute to her amazing father on Instagram for Father's Day.

John was later married to famous actress Lillian Lehman, but the marriage lasted only one year, and the couple had no children together.

Amos may have become famous as an actor, but first, he was a pro sportsman, with a promising career in boxing and football.
He played for the Denver Broncos, but a sports injury curtailed his career and in 1967 he turned his focus on acting. In 1970 he won his first major TV role, and his path was set for success.
