International sensation BTS has broken its own record as the highest-charting K-pop group on the Billboard Hot 100 with new single, “Mic Drop,” which is remixed by Steve Aoki and features Desiigner. It debuted at an impressive #28, making it the group’s first top 40 Hot 100 entry and the first for any K-pop group.

The single debuted a week ago at #1 in over 44 countries and became the top song on the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart. It also held its #1 position on the US iTunes Charts for two consecutive days.

Coming at #28, the remix has outranked the group’s previous single, “DNA,” which reached #67, and was previously the highest-charting Hot 100 hit by a K-pop group before the release of “Mic Drop.” Following this news, #BTSHOT100_28 trended #1 worldwide on Twitter.

In addition, the remix has also received over 15 million streams on Spotify and over 50 million views on YouTube.

Helping the single’s chart success in the United States, BTS performed the remix for the first time on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and then again on Jimmy Kimmy Live! These appearances came after the group made its live U.S. television debut on the American Music Awards on November 19th at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

“Mic Drop” producer Steve Aoki told Billboard: “I love these guys. These guys are the geniuses.” He continues, “They’re so creative on every level — on their dance, on their sound, on their style, their flow, creatively musically, creatively on the fashion tip. They’re brand developers. They developed their own brand, and they’re global. It’s incredible working with artists like that.”

After their promotion in the United States, BTS traveled back to South Korea, winning multiple awards across different Korean Music Shows.
